Close Call in Bay Hills

Thanks to an alert neighbor, a homeowner in Bay Hills narrowly averted disaster when an outside electrical connection sparked a structural fire while no one was home. Twenty-seven members of the Halesite Fire Department responded to the call under the command of Chief Kurt Martin. Huntington Bay Police Sgt. Emil Gurgis was able to contain the fire with a fire extinguisher until Halesite arrived. Halesite firefighters made quick work of the fire, bringing it under control within approximately 20 minutes.
