Fire Prevention |
One of the most important aspects of firefighting is preventing a fire before it starts. The Halesite Volunteer Fire Department is committed to the education of adults and children in preventing and surviving fires and other dangerous situations. We have an extensive fire prevention program that utilizes a variety of methods to teach fire safety to the general public as well as our own members.
Throughout the year, we provide fire safety lectures, visits to schools, and tours of the firehouse to various organizations.
Once a year, the department hosts a Fire Prevention Day to coincide with National Fire Prevention Week. Our Fire Prevention Day features hands on activities for children, as well as demonstrations by firefighters of the methods that can be used to extinguish fires. There is also a demonstration of how we use the "Jaws of Life" and other tools to extricate victims from a motor vehicle accident.
